Estopiñán del Castillo ist berühmt für sein Aerinit. Aerinit ist ein bläulich-lila Inosilikatmineral. Sein Name stammt von einer griechischen Wurzel "aerinos", was "Atmosphäre" oder "himmelblau" bedeutet. Es wurde erstmals von Lasaulx (1876) anhand eines Exemplars im Museum von Wroclaw beschrieben, das in Aragon, Spanien, gefunden wurde. 1882 fand der Geologe Luis Mariano Vidal das Mineral in situ in Caserras del Castillo, einer Gemeinde, die derzeit zur Gemeinde Estopiñán del Castillo gehört.
