Soportújar ist ein kleiner südspanischer Bergort und eine Gemeinde mit nur noch 268 Einwohnern im Süden der Provinz Granada in der autonomen Region Andalusien.Der Ort Soportújar liegt an einem Südhang der Alpujarras im Quellgebiet mehrerer, allesamt in den Río Seco mündender Bergbäche ca. 64 km südöstlich der Provinzhauptstadt Granada in einer Höhe von ca. 940 m; die Mittelmeerküste bei Motril ist gut 42 km in südwestlicher Richtung entfernt. Das Klima im Winter ist gemäßigt, im Sommer dagegen warm bis heiß; die geringen Niederschlagsmengen fallen – mit Ausnahme der nahezu regenlosen Sommermonate – verteilt übers ganze Jahr.
