Palas de Rei ist eine spanische Gemeinde in der spanischen Region Galicien am Rande des Jakobsweges. Sie gehört zur Provinz Lugo und hat 3.388 Einwohner .Der Ortsname heißt wörtlich übersetzt Königspalast. Es gibt aber weder Belege für die These, dass hier König Witiza Hof gehalten hätte, noch dass der Ort im 5. Jahrhundert Bischofssitz gewesen sei. Die erste erhaltene urkundliche Erwähnung findet sich im Caelicolae von Alfons III. Weiterhin beschreibt es Aimeric Picaud im Jakobsbuch als Palacium Regis. Eine weitere Erwähnung an gleicher Stelle geißelt die Prostitution, die es seinerzeit am Jakobsweg zwischen Portomarín und Palas de Rei gegeben haben soll.
