Die Alcazaba ist eine muslimische Festung aus dem neunten Jahrhundert in Mérida, Spanien. Wie andere historische Gebäude in der Stadt ist sie Teil der UNESCO-Welterbeliste. In der Nähe der römischen Brücke über den Guadiana-Fluss, der Puente Romano, wurde sie 835 von Emir Abd ar-Rahman II. von Córdoba erbaut, um die Stadt zu kontrollieren, die 805 rebellierte. Es war die erste muslimische Alcazaba und umfasst eine große quadratische Mauerlinie, deren jede Seite 130 Meter lang, 10 m hoch und 2,7 m dick ist, und die unter Verwendung von römischen Mauern und romanisch-visigotischen Bauwerken aus Granit errichtet wurde. Die Mauern umfassen 25 Türme mit quadratischem Grundriss, die auch als Stützmauern dienten. Innen befindet sich ein Aljibe, ein Regenwasserbehälter, der eine Zisterne umfasst, um Wasser aus dem Fluss zu sammeln und zu filtern.
