Die ehemalige Stiftskirche Notre-Dame in Auxonne gehört zu den wichtigsten Schöpfungen der früheren Gotik in Burgund.
Anstelle eines romanischen Vorgängerbaus, von dem sich über dem südlichen Querschiff ein turmartiger Aufbau erhalten hat, wurde um 1200 mit dem Bau eines neuen Hauptschiffs begonnen, dann folgte der Chor und die Seitenapsiden. Gegen 1250 war der Bau vollendet. Spätere Veränderungen waren die im 14. und 15. Jahrhundert errichteten Seitenkapellen und v. A. die um 1516 durch Maître Loys, dem Baumeister von Saint-Michel in Dijon erneuerte Portalanlage. Ein 1525 im Turm installierter Jacquemart ist heute verschwunden. Bei einer Restaurierung in der zweiten Hälfte des 19. Jahrhunderts wurde der Vierungsturm vollständig erneuert, der gegenüber dem vorherigen um elf Meter höher ausfiel.
