Umgeben wird Montoldre von den Nachbargemeinden Saint-Gérand-de-Vaux im Nordwesten und Norden, Treteau im Nordosten, Boucé im Osten, Rongères im Süden, Varennes-sur-Allier im Südwesten und Westen sowie Saint-Loup im Nordwesten.
