Die Mosel (französisch: Moselle) ist ein Fluss in Frankreich, Luxemburg und Deutschland (Bundesländer Saarland und Rheinland-Pfalz). Über die Our und die Sûre fließen auch Teile von Belgien in die Mosel und den Rhein. Die Mosel entspringt am Col de Bussang in den Vogesen auf 735 Metern Höhe und mündet nach 544 Kilometern bei Koblenz in den Rhein.
Der Name 'Mosel' stammt vom lateinischen Mosella, einer Verballhornung des keltischen Mosea. Mosella ist ein Diminutiv des teilweise parallel verlaufenden Flusses Maas (lateinisch: Mosa).
