350 Meter vom Place Pey-Berland und der Kathedrale Saint-André entfernt befindet sich das Musée d'Aquitaine in den Räumlichkeiten der ehemaligen Faculté des Lettres et des Sciences, die Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts an der Stelle des Feuillants-Klosters errichtet wurde, wo Michel de Montaigne 1592 beerdigt wurde. Es zeigt die Geschichte von Bordeaux und seiner Region von der Vorgeschichte bis ins 21. Jahrhundert. Seine Sammlungen umfassen etwa 700.000 Exponate und sind in drei große Bereiche unterteilt: Archäologie, Geschichte und Ethnografie. Das Musée d'Aquitaine begleitet Ihre Entdeckungen mit Sonderausstellungen, thematischen Workshops und, nach Vereinbarung, kommentierten Führungen.
