Die Kirche von Carcans wurde 1099 gegründet und war bis zum 13. Jahrhundert der Sitz eines Priorats. Jahrhundert. Zu dieser Zeit wurde sie zur Pfarrei erhoben. Carcans war eine Zwischenstation für Jakobspilger, die aus der Saintonge nach Santiago de Compostela kamen. Als Andenken bewahrt die Kirche eine wunderschöne Statue des Heiligen Jakobus in Pilgerkleidung aus dem 17. Jahrhundert auf, die als historisches Monument klassifiziert ist. Die heutige Kirche wurde 1870 im neugotischen Stil erbaut; der Altar aus derselben Zeit ist aus polychromem Marmor. Die Chororgel, eine deutsche Orgel, wurde 1971 bei der Restaurierung der Kirche eingebaut.
