Der Justizpalast von Metz befindet sich im ehemaligen Gouverneurspalast der Provinz der drei Bistümer. Er hat ein etwas strenges und majestätisches Aussehen und eine Ausstattung, die die militärische Macht symbolisiert, bewahrt, wie die Trophäen und die Gottheiten Mars und Minerva, Gott und Göttin des Krieges in der römischen Mythologie. Von hier aus zog La Fayette 1775 aus, um für die Unabhängigkeit der Vereinigten Staaten von Amerika zu kämpfen.
