1866 wurde in Baerenthal für die kleine katholische Minderheit des Dorfes die Kapelle Notre Dame de Confiance erbaut, die der Unbefleckten Empfängnis gewidmet ist. Sie ist im neugotischen Stil erbaut und beherbergt eine Statue der Jungfrau Maria mit Kind. Sie überstand die drei deutsch-französischen Kriege ohne größere Schäden und blieb bis zum 18. Mai 1960 unauffällig, als die Pilgerreise "Notre Dame de confiance" eröffnet wurde
Die Kapelle Notre Dame de Confiance befindet sich auf dem kleinen Erbgutweg (3,7 km) durch das Dorf Baerenthal, "Au grès du chemin... notre histoire" (Auf dem Weg... unsere Geschichte).
