Der erste evangelische Gottesdienst wurde mit der Genehmigung des Bürgermeisters Barrabino 1841 in Forbach abgehalten. Die protestantische Kirchengemeinde wurde 1869 von Napoleon III. offiziell gegründet. Zu dieser Zeit gab es 1250 Protestanten in der Stadt und der Bau eines neuen Gotteshauses wurde notwendig. Im Jahr 1889 erstellte der Architekt Wahn aus Metz die Pläne und die Einweihung der protestantischen Kirche im neogotischen Stil fand am 1. November 1892 statt.
