Il primo servizio evangelico si tenne a Forbach con il permesso del sindaco Barrabino nel 1841. La parrocchia protestante fu istituita ufficialmente nel 1869 da Napoleone III. All'epoca i protestanti in città erano 1250 e la costruzione di un nuovo luogo di culto era necessaria. Nel 1889 l'architetto Wahn di Metz elaborò i progetti e la consacrazione della chiesa protestante neogotica avvenne il 1° novembre 1892.
