Die Kirche Saint-Germain-l?Auxerrois wurde zur Zeit der Merowinger gegründet und musste zahlreiche Zerstörungen und Wiederaufbauten über sich ergehen lassen. Ergänzungen wurden zwischen dem 11. und 13. Jahrhundert vorgenommen, mit Arbeiten im 12. Der Chor und die Marienkapelle stammen aus dem 14. Jahrhundert, das Kirchenschiff und die Vorhalle aus dem folgenden Jahrhundert und das Querschiff und die Chorkapellen aus dem 16. Gegenüber dem Musée du Louvre trägt die Kirche die Spuren ihrer turbulenten Vergangenheit, insbesondere während der Bartholomäusnacht.
