Am 22. Oktober 1919 wurde Xonrupt zur eigenständigen Gemeinde und trennte sich damit von Gérardmer.
Die Gemeinde trägt das Label "Village Étoilé" (Sternendorf) und ist als "Site naturel remarquable" (bemerkenswerte Naturstätte) eingestuft. Sie ist auf eine vielfältige Natur zwischen Seen (Longemer und Retournemer) in 750 m Höhe und Vogesengipfeln in 1306 m Höhe ausgerichtet. Xonrupt, das auch das Gütesiegel "Famille Plus" trägt, verstärkt seine touristische Berufung, bleibt dabei aber authentisch und herzlich. Im Winter werden Sie von den alpinen und nordischen Gebieten begeistert sein.
