Der 1920 angelegte Friedhof von Pierrepont wurde 1923 zur nationalen Nekropole erklärt, als die exhumierten Leichen einiger Militärfriedhöfe in den Departements Meurthe und Moselle und Meuse zusammengelegt wurden.
Die imposante Totenlaterne, die zum Gedenken an die in der Schlacht von Pierrepont am 22. und 23. August 1914 gefallenen Helden errichtet wurde, wurde am 18.9.1932 eingeweiht.
In der Nekropole ruhen 3758 Soldaten:
Krieg 14-18: 3045 Franzosen, 141 Belgier, 2 Briten, 1 Rumäne, 493 Russen.
Krieg 39/45: 20 französische Soldaten, 55 sowjetische Soldaten, 1 tschechischer Soldat.
Der Gedenksektor von Pierrepont ist eine UNESCO-Weltkulturerbestätte;
