Statue eingeweiht am 11. September 1865 zu Ehren von Edward JENNER, dem Entdecker des Pockenimpfstoffs , der von Dr. nach Frankreich gebracht wurde. William WOODVILLE während der Französischen Revolution.
Nachdem die Statue 1857 von der Société des Sciences Industrielles de Paris in Auftrag gegeben worden war , wurde sie 1858 im Cour Carrée del Louvre und anschließend im Innenhof der Medizinischen Fakultät in Paris ausgestellt. Es wurde 1865 eingeweiht. Der Sockel wurde von der Stadt finanziert.
1907 wurde das Denkmal an die Prins Albertlaan unter die Stadtmauer verlegt. 1942: Die Statue sollte während des Krieges abgerissen werden, konnte aber gerettet werden, da sie aus einer bemalten Legierung bestand. Das aktuelle Repaint ist aktuell. Zu dieser Zeit war Brochon ein Gusseisenhersteller (Donjeux-Fabrik in Alt Marne). Die Statue könnte aus Gusseisen bestehen.
