West Buckland ist ein Dorf und eine Gemeinde in Somerset, England, das 5 Meilen südwestlich von Taunton im Bezirk Somerset West und Taunton liegt. Die Gemeinde hat eine Bevölkerung von 1.189.
Im Jahr 904 waren bestimmte Ländereien die Grundlage einer Urkunde für Asser, Bischof von Sherborne, die später 908 bestätigt wurde. Es wird angenommen, dass Buckland damals vielleicht als Bocland bekannt war; der Name für ‚charterland‘. Nach dieser Urkunde, oder vielleicht sogar früher, wurde der Name West Buckland etabliert. Warum West hinzugefügt wurde, ist unbekannt – vielleicht um es von Buckland St Mary im Osten zu unterscheiden.
