In Bezug auf Berühmtheit kann dieser Baum durchaus mithalten. Der Legende nach soll Isaac Newton hier unter diesem Apfelbaum gesessen haben und einen Apfel gesehen haben, der ihm herunterfiel. Das soll zu der Ausarbeitung seiner Theorie der Schwerkraft geführt haben. Zahlreiche Nachkommen dieses Apfelbaums sind jetzt zu finden im Trinity College, Cambridge, im Botanischen Garten der Universität Cambridge und im Instituto Balseiro Bibliotheksgarten in Argentinien. Aber hier soll also der originale Apfelbaum stehen.
