Nowy Afon ist eine Stadt in der umstrittenen Region Abchasien am Schwarzen Meer. Sie zählt heute zu den wichtigsten Touristenzielen des Landes.
Eine städtische Siedlung befand sich an der Stelle, wo heute Nowy Afon liegt, vermutlich bereits lange vor Christi Geburt. Die heutige Stadt wird im 5. Jahrhundert n. Chr. als Anakopija erwähnt. Vom 7. bis zum 8. Jahrhundert war die Stadt das politische Zentrum des Fürstentums Abchasien und später auch Hauptstadt des gleichnamigen Königreichs bis diese nach Kutaissi verlagert wurde.
