Die Seeschlacht von Salamis fand am 29. September 480 v. Chr. zwischen Griechen und Persern bei Salamis statt, einer Insel in der Nähe von Athen.
Diese Schlacht war eine der bedeutendsten Seeschlachten im Mittelmeerraum in der Antike. Sie wird von einigen Historikern wie Christian Meier, neben der Schlacht von Marathon, als dasjenige Zentralereignis in der abendländischen Geschichte gewertet, das mithalf, die Zivilisationsgeschichte Europas eigenständig gegen die des Ostens zu behaupten.
