Dieser Ort ist mit einem enormen Ausbruch des italienischen Vulkans Campi Flegrei. Dieser Ausbruch fand vor 40.000 Jahren statt und verbreitete Asche über einen großen Teil Europas. Auch hier. Während einer Ausgrabung in der Höhle fanden Wissenschaftler eine Schicht dieser Asche, 10 Meter unter der aktuellen Oberfläche. Sie konnten die Tefra-Partikel der Asche datieren, und die Experten fanden menschliche Artefakte unter dieser Schicht, ein Beweis dafür, dass die menschliche Besiedlung in dieser Höhle mindestens vor 40.000 Jahren stattgefunden hat.
