Varenna ist ein Ort in der italienischen Region Lombardei und gehört zur Provinz Lecco.
Der malerische Ort liegt am Ostufer des Comer Sees an der Mündung des Flusses Esino. Der Ort hat viele enge Gassen mit Treppen und einen kleinen alten Fischerhafen. Das wichtigste Bauwerk im Dorf ist die Kirche San Giorgio aus dem Jahr 1313 mit ihrem hohen Glockenturm.
Von Varenna verkehrt eine Autofähre hin und her nach Cadenabbia auf der gegenüberliegenden Seite. Es gibt auch regelmäßige Fährverbindungen zu den Orten Menaggio und Bellagio. Varenna hat einen Bahnhof an der Bahnlinie Mailand-Tirano.
