Die Sak von Zuid-Beveland ist gekennzeichnet durch kleine Polder und zahllose Binnendeiche. Die typischen Merkmale des Altlands sind hier erhalten geblieben. Man findet hier noch gewundene Kreekrücken-Systeme, offene Wiesenlandschaften und Kernsiedlungen.
Das Gebiet entstand durch zahllose kleine Eindeichungen, die im zwölften Jahrhundert von den Mönchen von Sint Bavo aus Gent begonnen wurden. Von ihnen stammt der Name Beveland.
Die Sak von Zuid-Beveland ist ein wunderschönes Gebiet mit wichtigen Natur- und Landschaftswerten wie Wellen, Grenzlinden, Kreken, Vlietebergen und kleinen Dörfern. Deshalb hat die Regierung 1994 die Sak von Zuid-Beveland als wertvolle Kulturlandschaft ausgewiesen.
