Voerendaal ist ein Dorf im Süden der niederländischen Provinz Limburg und die Hauptgemeinde der gleichnamigen Gemeinde. Der Kern und das Umland zählen etwa 8.495 Einwohner.
Das Dorf hat eine Geschichte, die bis ins 11. Jahrhundert zurückreicht; das erste Schriftstück, in dem Voerendaal erwähnt wird, ist soweit bekannt eine Urkunde vom 20. Juni 1065. In dieser Urkunde wird die Weihe der Sint-Laurentiuskerk durch Papst Leo IX. erwähnt, die am 10. August 1049 stattgefunden haben soll. Die Sint-Laurentiuskerk im Zentrum ist die einzige von einem Papst geweihte Kirche der Niederlande. Ältere Dokumente fehlen, doch Historiker vermuten, dass das Dorf noch viele Jahrhunderte älter sein muss. In der Nähe des monumentalen Hofes Ten Hove wurden Überreste einer römischen Villa, der Villa Rustica Voerendaal-Ten Hove, gefunden. Daneben sind zahlreiche andere Überreste von römischen Bauwerken entdeckt worden.
