Poppenwier ist ein Dorf in der Gemeinde Súdwest-Fryslân in der Provinz Friesland, Niederlande. Es hatte im Januar 2017 eine Bevölkerung von etwa 170. Das Dorf wurde erstmals im Jahr 1401 als Popengwere erwähnt und bedeutet "Terp des Volkes von Poppa". Poppenwier ist ein Terpdorf aus dem frühen Mittelalter. Die kleine Terp ist dicht mit einer rechteckigen Struktur und einem Kreis um die Kirche bebaut. Es war die am weitesten landeinwärts gelegene Terp Friesland.
