Der Wilhelminaplein trug während des Zweiten Weltkriegs auch den Namen Jeroen Boschplein. 1941 wurde auf Befehl der Besatzer ein Verbot erlassen, die Namen lebender Mitglieder des niederländischen Königshauses zu tragen. Der Wilhelminaplein erhielt einen anderen Namen. Es wurde auf den Maler Jeroen Bosch verwiesen. Als am 27. Oktober 1944 's-Hertogenbosch befreit wurde, wurde der Name zurückgegeben.
