Surhuisterveen ist eines der zwölf Dörfer der Gemeinde Achtkarspelen in der niederländischen Provinz Friesland. Im Volksmund wird das Dorf auch als It Fean bezeichnet. Surhuisterveen hatte am 1. Januar 2021 6.050 Einwohner und ist das größte Dorf der Gemeinde Achtkarspelen. Es liegt etwa zwölf Kilometer südlich des Hauptdorfes Buitenpost. Im Südosten von Surhuisterveen beginnt die Lauwers. Surhuisterveen liegt etwa 12 Kilometer nördlich von Drachten und etwa 30 Kilometer von Leeuwarden und Groningen entfernt.
