Surhuisterveen es una de las doce aldeas del municipio de Achtkarspelen, en la provincia neerlandesa de Friesland. En el lenguaje popular, el pueblo también se conoce como It Fean. Surhuisterveen, que contaba con 6.050 habitantes el 1 de enero de 2021, es la aldea más grande del municipio de Achtkarspelen. Se encuentra aproximadamente a doce kilómetros al sur de la aldea principal del municipio, Buitenpost. Al sureste de Surhuisterveen comienza el Lauwers. Surhuisterveen está ubicado aproximadamente a 12 kilómetros al norte de Drachten y a unos 30 kilómetros de distancia de Leeuwarden y Groningen.
