Colmschate ist ein Dorf und Stadtteil im Osten der Stadt Deventer, Provinz Overijssel, mit ungefähr 16.000 Einwohnern. In Colmschate wurden bei archäologischen Untersuchungen die Überreste einer germanischen Siedlung aus der Römerzeit gefunden. Es wurden für die Niederlande seltene römische Münzen von Carausius und Allectus, ein verziertes bronzenes Beschlagstück einer Schnalle und ein bronzenes Beschlagstück eines Geschirrs gefunden. Diese Funde lassen vermuten, dass ein oder mehrere Männer, die hier am Ende des dritten Jahrhunderts lebten, aus der römischen Armee zurückgekehrt waren, in der sie jahrelang als Berufssoldaten gedient hatten. Eine in Colmschate gefundene Messingfigur der Göttin Victoria diente als Bauopfer.
