Bemelen ist ein Dorf in der niederländischen Gemeinde Eijsden-Margraten. Das Dorf liegt am Rand des Maasvallei östlich von Maastricht im Süden der Provinz Limburg. In dem Dorf leben etwa 580 Menschen. Bemelen entstand am Hang des Maastals zum Plateau von Margraten, an der Stelle, wo eine römische Straße den Bemelerberg hinaufführt. 1018 wurde Bemelen erstmals schriftlich erwähnt und bis 1794 war es ein Herrschaftsgebiet, das dem Kapitel Unserer Lieben Frau von Maastricht unterstand. Als Vormünder traten zunächst die Herren von Valkenburg auf; ab 1381 die Herzöge von Brabant.
