IJlst ist eine Stadt in der Gemeinde Súdwest-Fryslân in der niederländischen Provinz Friesland, die nördlich von Heeg und südwestlich der größeren Stadt Sneek liegt. Durch die Stadt fließt der Fluss Geeuw, der in der Stadt mit dem Fluss Ee zusammenfließt. Die Geeuw ist Teil der Verbindung Sneekermeer - Sneek - IJlst - Heeg - Heegermeer und ist insbesondere im Sommer eine stark befahrene Wasserstraße.
