Die Walemberg ist nach dem Weiler Walem benannt, der sich auf dem Gipfel dieses Anstiegs in der Gemeinde Valkenburg befindet. Die Steigung ist mehr als zwei Kilometer lang und beginnt in Schin op Geul. Auf halber Strecke gibt es ein steiles Stück von mehr als 10%.
