Die Mühle wurde 1850 als Korn- und Pellmühle erbaut, von der Pellerei sind nur einige Reste geblieben. Die Mühle ist seit 1956 im Besitz der Gemeinde, zuerst der Gemeinde Oude Pekela, seit der kommunalen Neugliederung von 1990 der Gemeinde Pekela. Die Mühle wurde mehrmals restauriert und ist regelmäßig auf freiwilliger Basis in Betrieb, dank einiger freiwilliger Müller, darunter eine Ausbilderin der Gilde der freiwilligen Müller und ihre Schüler. Die Mühle hatte früher eine Selbstschaltung auf einer Welle, aber die 21 Meter langen Wellen sind nun wieder mit dem Oudholländischen Flügel-System mit Segeln ausgestattet.
