Diese asphaltierte Straße, die durch den Wald verläuft, ist der Defensieweg. Die Straße wurde im März 1940 auf Anordnung des Oberbefehlshabers der Land- und Seestreitkräfte angelegt. Militärisches Material konnte so außerhalb des Schussfeldes der deutschen Truppen in Richtung des Grebbebergs bewegt werden. Nach dem Krieg war der Defensieweg viele Jahre lang ein beliebter Ort für Schneespaß, auf einem Schlitten hinter dem Auto. Heutzutage zieht die Straße Radfahrer an, die die Anstiege der Hügelkette suchen.
