Este camino pavimentado que atraviesa el bosque es el Camino de Defensa. El camino fue construido en marzo de 1940 por orden del Comandante Supremo de las Fuerzas Terrestres y Navales. Así, el material militar pudo ser trasladado fuera del alcance de los disparos de las tropas alemanas en dirección a la Grebbeberg. Después de la guerra, el Camino de Defensa fue durante muchos años un lugar popular para la diversión en la nieve, con un trineo detrás del automóvil. Hoy en día, el camino atrae a ciclistas que buscan las subidas de la ladera.
