Der Name Driebruggen verweist aller Wahrscheinlichkeit nach auf drei Brücken: die Brücke über die Dubbele Wiericke, die Brücke am Ende des Dorfkerns in der Nähe des Dorpshuis Custwijc. Und früher gab es zwischen diesen beiden Brücken noch eine dritte kleinere Brücke. Diese lag wahrscheinlich an der Kreuzung des Kerkwegs mit der Sierkersstraat, dort ist jetzt nichts mehr von zurückzufinden.
In Driebruggen sind noch einige historische Gebäude zu finden. 't Hooge Huys an der Südseite entlang der Dubbele Wiericke ist das älteste und stammt aus dem 17. Jahrhundert. An der Kerkweg steht das ehemalige Doktorhaus, das aus dem Jahr 1885 stammt, sowie das ehemalige Gemeindehaus aus dem Jahr 1928.
