Le nom Driebruggen fait vraisemblablement référence à trois ponts : le pont sur la Dubbele Wiericke, le pont au bout du noyau du village près de la maison du village Custwijc. Et autrefois, il y avait entre ces deux ponts un troisième petit pont. Celui-ci se trouvait probablement au croisement du Kerkweg et de la Sierkersstraat, et il n'en reste plus rien aujourd'hui.
À Driebruggen, on trouve encore quelques bâtiments historiques. 't Hooge Huys sur la rive sud le long de la Dubbele Wiericke est le plus ancien et date du 17ème siècle. Sur le Kerkweg se trouve l'ancienne maison du médecin, datant de 1885, et l'ancienne mairie de 1928.
