Il nome Driebruggen si riferisce molto probabilmente a tre ponti: il ponte sul Dubbele Wiericke, il ponte alla fine del centro del paese vicino al Dorpshuis Custwijc. E in passato c'era tra questi due ponti un terzo ponte più piccolo. Questo si trovava probabilmente all'incrocio tra Kerkweg e Sierkersstraat, ma ora non c'è più niente di ritrovabile.
A Driebruggen si possono ancora trovare alcuni edifici storici. 't Hooge Huys sulla sponda sud lungo il Dubbele Wiericke è il più antico e risale al 17° secolo. Lungo Kerkweg si trova l'ex casa del dottore, che è del 1885, e l'ex municipio del 1928.
