Borgharen, im Limburgischen Hare, war eine ehemalige niederländische Gemeinde, die 1970 mit der Gemeinde Maastricht fusionierte. Archäologen entdeckten elf archäologische Stätten in der Region. Die ältesten Überreste stammen aus der Steinzeit, etwa vor 7000-4000 Jahren. In der Eisenzeit wuchs die Siedlung. Um das 3. und 2. Jahrhundert v. Chr. befand sich in der Region eine römische Villa. Überreste davon wurden 1995 und 1999 in der Pasestraat nördlich von Borgharen, an der Grenze zu Itteren, entdeckt. An derselben Stelle befand sich der Friedhof im 6. und 7. Jahrhundert.
