Das wunderschöne Anwesen mitten in Aalbeek hat eine bewegte Geschichte. Von den ursprünglichen Gebäuden ist nur noch das neoklassizistische, renovierte Gesindehaus Villa Aalbeek erhalten. Auf dem ehemaligen Anwesen stehen noch einige seltene Bäume, darunter ein riesiger Mammutbaum mit einem Umfang von fast fünf Metern! In der Nähe der Villa Aalbeek steht eine Säule mit der lateinischen Inschrift ‘Aalbeek centrum orbis’: Aalbeek als Zentrum der Welt, wegen der zentralen Lage in Süd-Limburg und Westeuropa, ‘der alten Welt’.
