Dieses Naturschutzgebiet geht von einem Plateau-Wald in einen Hangwald über, der am Flüsschen Geul endet. Dahinter liegen feuchte Kalkgrasländer, und überall gibt es etwas Besonderes zu erleben. Im Plateau-Wald befindet sich die Meertensgrube, ein ehemaliger offener Mergelbruch. Der tiefe, geschützte Krater ist jetzt ein geschütztes Naturdenkmal und eine Herde Ziegen weidet dort.
Im Hangwald streifen Wildschweine auf der Suche nach Nahrung umher. In den moorartigen Kalkgrasländern erhalten die seltensten Pflanzen- und Tierarten die Chance zu überleben.
Dank einer wunderschönen Plattformbrücke steht man als Besucher direkt vor einem verletzlichen Stück Natur.
