Dit natuurgebied gaat van een plateaubos over in een hellingbos dat eindigt bij het riviertje de Geul. Hierachter liggen vochtige kalkgraslanden en overal is wel
iets bijzonders te beleven. In het plateaubos ligt de Meertensgroeve, een voormalige open mergelgroeve. De diepe, beschutte krater is nu een beschermd natuurmonument en er graast een kudde geiten.
In het hellingbos scharrelen wilde zwijnen naar voedsel. In het moerasachtige kalkgrasland krijgen de zeldzaamste plant- en diersoorten de kans om te overleven.
Dankzij een prachtige vlonderbrug sta je als bezoeker met je neus bovenop een kwetsbaar stukje natuur.
