Fachwerkhäuser mit dunklen Balken und weiß gekalktem Lehm sind charakteristisch für das südlimburgische Hügelland. Besonders an diesem Fachwerkbauernhof ist, dass er als eines der wenigen Gebäude in den Niederlanden keine Fundamente hat. Das Gestein, auf dem der Hof Vernelsberg 1323 erbaut wurde, entstand vor etwa 300 Millionen Jahren und ist extrem hart. Zwei der Ställe und das Backhaus bestehen aus dem örtlichen Blauen Stein. Während des Zweiten Weltkriegs wurde der Kuhstall von einer V1-Bombe getroffen. Kürzlich wurde der denkmalgeschützte Hof vollständig zu einer Gruppenunterkunft restauriert.
