Die Warmoesstraat ist eine der ältesten Straßen Amsterdams. Sie verläuft parallel zum Damrak von der Nieuwebrugsteeg bis zum Dam.
Die heutige Warmoesstraat hatte bis ins 17. Jahrhundert zwei Namen: Kerkstraat für den nördlichen Teil bis zur Oude Kerk und Warmoesstraat für den südlichen Teil. Der Name leitet sich von warmoezerijen ab, was auf den Handel mit Gemüse zurückgeht. 1957 wurde der Abschnitt bei Hotel Krasnapolsky am Dam hinzugefügt. Das erste Stück der Warmoesstraat heißt jedoch Sint Olofspoort, nach dem mittelalterlichen Stadttor, das dort einst stand.
