Itteren, im Limburgischen Ittere, war eine ehemalige niederländische Gemeinde, die 1970 mit der Gemeinde Maastricht fusionierte.
Archäologen entdeckten elf archäologische Stätten in der Region. Die ältesten Überreste stammen aus der Steinzeit, vor etwa 7000-4000 Jahren. Auch Glasarmbänder aus der Eisenzeit wurden gefunden. In den III. und II. Jahrhunderten v. Chr. befand sich eine römische Villa in der Region. Überreste davon wurden 1995 und 1999 an der Pasestraat nördlich von Borgharen, an der Grenze zu Itteren, entdeckt. An derselben Stelle befand sich im VI. und VII. Jahrhundert ein Friedhof. In der Nähe der Mündung der Gueule wurden Fragmente von Urnen und Kremationen gefunden.
