Die Schiekade ist eine Straße nördlich des Zentrums der Stadt Rotterdam, die das Proveniersviertel vom Agnieszabereich trennt. Die Straßenbahnlinie 25 der RET nutzt die Mittelinsel der Verkehrsader. Die Schiekade lag ursprünglich entlang der Rotterdamer Schie. Im Jahr 1931 wurde der Teil der Schie zwischen dem Stadhoudersplein und der Luftbahn aufgefüllt, um Platz für die neuen Wohnviertel Blijdorp und Bergpolder zu schaffen. 1939 entschied man sich, die Schie zwischen Hofplein und Stadhoudersplein aufzufüllen. Nach Mai 1940 wurde dies mit Trümmern durchgeführt, die infolge des Bombardements auf Rotterdam entstanden waren. Dadurch entstand das lokale Sprichwort: "Früher lag die Schie in Rotterdam, aber jetzt liegt Rotterdam in der Schie."
