Das ehemalige Rathaus von Waalwijk wurde in der Zeit von 1929 bis 1932 nach einem historisierenden Entwurf von Alexander Jacobus Kropholler erbaut. Die Bebauung rund um den Raadhuisplein in Waalwijk wurde in der Zeit von 1931 bis 1936 nahezu vollständig von Kropholler entworfen und besteht neben dem Rathaus aus verschiedenen anderen Gebäuden. Bis 2010 diente das Gebäude als Rathaus der Gemeinde Waalwijk. Der Bau hat an der Vorder- und Rückseite ein Treppengiebel. 1986 wurde der Rathauskomplex in einem Stil erweitert, der zum bereits bestehenden Teil passt. 2010 nahmen die Gemeindeverwaltung und -beamten ein neues Rathaus an der Winterdijk in Betrieb, wonach das markante Rathaus von Kropholler in den folgenden Jahren eine neue gesellschaftliche Funktion als 'Huis van Waalwijk' erhielt.
