L'ex-ex municipio di Waalwijk è stato costruito nel periodo 1929-1932 secondo un progetto storicista di Alexander Jacobus Kropholler. Gli edifici intorno a Raadhuisplein a Waalwijk sono stati quasi interamente progettati da Kropholler nel periodo 1931-1936 e comprendono, oltre al municipio, vari altri edifici. Fino al 2010, l'edificio ha funto da municipio del comune di Waalwijk. L'opera presenta un frontone a gradoni sul lato anteriore e posteriore. Nel 1986, il complesso del municipio è stato ampliato in uno stile che si integra con la parte già esistente. Nel 2010, i funzionari comunali e i dipendenti hanno occupato un nuovo municipio in Winterdijk, dopodiché, negli anni successivi, il caratteristico municipio di Kropholler ha acquisito una nuova funzione sociale come 'Casa di Waalwijk'.
