Der Wissenschaftler Elie van Rijckevorsel baute es 1904 außerhalb von 'Hoog Moersbergen' auf dem fast höchsten Punkt einer weitläufigen Heidelandschaft. Aufgrund seiner Lage auf der kargen Utrechtse Heuvelrug erhielt das Landhaus, das einem mittelalterlichen Räubernest ähnelt, den Spitznamen Waai en Braai. Es gehörte zur unteren Burg Moersbergen. Infolge einer Bestimmung im Testament des Eigentümers/Eigentümerin wurde das Herrenhaus 1935 abgerissen. Die verschiedene dichte Vegetation ('Monkey Grove') zeigt noch genau an, wo das Landhaus stand.
Ein Gemälde von 1914 von Christian Dommelshuizen mit dem Außenansicht von 'Hoog Moersbergen' von Dr. van Rijckevorsel kann im Museum Rotterdam bewundert werden.
